Pronunciation Project
Prefixes are a group of letters that are added to the
beginning of root words to create a new word. We
often use the prefixes dis-, in-, im-, ir-, il-, un- to
make opposites of words. E.g. happy- unhappy. ‘im-’
is usually used before the words starting with ‘b, m, p’
sounds. ‘ir-’ is usually used before the words starting
with ‘r’ sound.
a Listen to the pronunciation of the words below. Choose your favourite film and talk about it. While

c Work in pairs. Write the opposites of the following GAME TIME
words. Then, practise the pronunciation of the
words with your partner. Write the name of a film or a book

the papers so that the words are
