Have you ever felt like you have a hidden talent but didn’t know how to use it?
The film Good Will Hunting tells the beautiful story of a young man who faces
exactly this problem. It is a powerful film that teaches us about life, friendship, and
believing in ourselves.
A Hidden Talent: Will Hunting is a 20-year-old man from South Boston. He works
as a cleaner at a well-known university. Will doesn’t study, but he is very intelligent.
He can easily solve the most difficult maths problems in the world. He can do the
calculations on the blackboards of the classrooms easily. However, Will had a hard
past and has a lot of anger inside him.
One day, he finds himself in a difficult situation. A maths professor, Gerald
Lambeau, helps him and discovers Will’s amazing talent when he realises the
writings of Will on the boards. He helps Will improve his life, but Will has to accept
two rules: He must study maths with him and visit a therapist named Sean Maguire.
Facing the Past: At first, Will is rude and doesn’t want to talk to the therapist.
But Sean is patient. He understands Will’s pain because they come from the
same neighbourhood. Slowly, Will starts to trust Sean. Through their honest
conversations, Will learns to face his fears. He realises that his difficult childhood
was not his fault.
This film shows us that talent can be hidden anywhere. You don’t need to have a
perfect life to be successful. We all need advice sometimes. As well as the advice
of our family members, a good teacher or a friend can completely change the
direction of our lives. In this film, Will is afraid of failing and of being loved, so he
keeps people away. The film teaches us that to reach our dreams, we must be
brave enough to open our hearts and trust our talents.
Good Will Hunting reminds us that our past does not decide our future. Every
student has special talents. Don’t be afraid to discover them, accept help from
others, and follow your own beautiful path in life.
