THE GUARDIANS
xplorers Maya, Leo, and
Chloe arrived at Green Valley,
OF GREEN VALLEY
Esaid to be untouched. But
there was a strange, chemical smell
in the air. “Something’s wrong,” said
Maya, frowning. “This valley was
supposed to be pure.”
They followed the smell to a
hidden factory. “That smokestack
must give off a lot of pollution,”
Leo said grimly. The river next
to it was running low and murky.
“They’re going to use up all the
clean water.”
All the vibrant plant life around
the factory was wilting. Maya knelt,
touching a pale, drooping flower.
“These are the unique valley
orchids,” she whispered sadly,
“They will die out completely if
this continues.”
Chloe analysed a soil sample
on her tablet. “The toxins are
poisoning the soil while dead
leaves and plants are breaking
down,” she explained. “The soil is
losing all its beneficial nutrients.”
