P. 8

PREFACE

The YDT is a critical component for students aiming for language-based scores in the
university entrance exam. Among the key competencies tested, vocabulary knowledge plays
a fundamental role in ensuring a successful performance. Mastery of vocabulary not only aids

in comprehension and communication but also enhances the ability to analyse and answer
various question types within the exam. Given the competitive nature of the YDT, a solid
command of vocabulary is indispensable for achieving high scores.

This book has been designed to guide students through structured progression, starting
with easier questions and gradually moving towards more challenging ones. There are
forty-eight tests presented in a multiple-choice format, each containing sixteen questions:
three nouns, three adjectives, three adverbs, three verbs, three phrasal verbs, and one

preposition. The tests from 1 to 8 are easy, those from 9 to 28 are of moderate difficulty, and
the tests from 29 to 48 are more challenging. The target vocabulary has been meticulously
prepared, systematically categorised, and graded to align with the increasing difficulty
progression throughout the book and the corresponding CEFR levels. These tests feature

words carefully curated from ÖSYM’s past language exams, ensuring that they are highly
relevant and consistent with the YDT’s focus.

For convenience, QR codes have been incorporated throughout the book, granting students

instant access to video explanations for each question, and https://ogmmateryal.eba.gov.tr/
can also be visited for additional resources, practice tests, and updates.

We hope Vocabulary for YDT Grade 12 proves to be a valuable resource in students’ journey

towards mastering the intricacies of English vocabulary. We extend our best wishes for their
            success in the YDT.
