This activity aims to have students draw conclusions and make inferences.

Materials and Preparation

Copy and cut up the picture on page 45.

Procedure

1 Have students work with their partners. Give each of the students one piece of the picture you have
cut up in halves.
2 Tell them to look closely at the picture halves they have. Ask them to write their inferences about the
people and the place by answering these questions:
- What is going on in this picture?
- What do you see that makes you say that?
- How do you think they feel?
- What may happen next?
3 Give them a few minutes to write down their inferences and conclusions. Then, let them put the
halves together and discuss their ideas.
