Tapescript 10.1 Mr. Francis witnessed a crime and the police officer is asking him some questions to
identify the criminal. Listen to the dialogue and tick the correct man according to the
description.

Officer So, Mr. Francis do you recognize the criminal?
Mr. Francis Oh, I don’t know. It’s a bit difficult.
Officer Well, about how old is he?
Mr. Francis He’s middle-aged, I think.
Officer OK, and how tall is he?
Mr. Francis He’s short, about 1m 55.
Officer Is he fat or slim?
Mr. Francis He’s of medium hight.
Officer Does he wear glasses?
Mr. Francis Hmm, I guess he does.
Officer Has he got a beard or mustache?
Mr. Francis Oh, I can’t remember that.
Officer OK, what about his hair?
Mr. Francis He has short, black, straight hair.
Officer What was he wearing?
Mr. Francis As far as I remember, he was in a red t-shirt.
Officer Do you think any of these men is the criminal?
T H E M E 9 Mr. Francis Well, number 1 isn’t him. He’s too young and tall. And number 4 isn’t him either because he’s

too old. Number 2 or number 3 could be the criminal, but I’m not sure.
Officer OK, Mr. Francis, thank you for your time. We’ll take those two in for questioning.
Mr. Francis OK, thank you very much.
