          This activity enables students to talk about landmarks and monuments. It also improves students’ listening, reading and
          speaking skills.


          Materials and Preparation

          Copy and cut out the photocopiable material on page 127.


          Procedure

          1    Divide the class into two teams as A and B.
          2   Put the shuffled cards on a table and ask both teams to send a volunteer to pick up an information card and start the
             game.
          3   Tell students that they are going to read the information of a landmark or a monument on the card and try to find out
             what it is. Set a time limit, e.g. 2 minutes for each group to guess the answer. The team that guesses correctly gets
             5 points.
          4   If one of the teams cannot guess or gives a wrong answer, the other team can make a guess and take turns.
          5   The team with the highest score wins the game.



             3   Explore It!


          This activity enables students to ask for and give more detailed information about landmarks and historic sites. It also
          helps them to practice all four language skills.


          Materials and Preparation

          Make a copy of the worksheet on pages 128-129 for each group of four students.


          Procedure

          1    Have students work in groups of four (Student A, B, C and D) and give each student a corresponding worksheet.
          2    Get students take it in turns to ask for and give information about the monuments and historic sites on their worksheet
             and complete the missing information. Remind them to use wh-questions and the Passive Voice in their dialogs.
          3    Once students complete all the missing information on their worksheet, get them to write a short descriptive paragraph
             about each site. Then, they take it in turns to read out one of these paragraphs in their groups.
          4    As an extension, have them discuss the following questions:
          •     Which one is your favorite? Why?
          •     Which one do you find the least interesting? Why?
          •     What else do you wish to learn about these sites?
