Topic Summary - Passive Voice
INTRODUCTION TO PASSIVE VOICE
When an active sentence is transformed into a passive one, the object of the active sentence becomes the subject of the passive
sentence. In an active sentence, the performer of the action is emphasized, whereas, in a passive sentence, the one affected by the
action is emphasized rather than the object. The passive voice, which is frequently used, especially in academic writings and scientific
articles, is a structure that we often encounter in YDT and similar exams.
