3 Find the words in the text for the definitions given below.
Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani activist for children’s rights and female education. Yousafzai was announced as the
co-recipient of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for her struggle against the suppression of children and young people and
for the right of all children to education. She became the youngest Nobel Laurate after she had received the prize at
the age of 17. Yousafzai shared the prize with Kailash Satyarthi who was also a children’s rights activist from India.
The experience and wisdom of Malala did not come at once. She suffered a lot of problems, threats and attacks and
survived all of them. Therefore, she realized the importance of education and peace at a very young age. She didn’t
give up; she kept fighting.
In 2015, Yousafzai opened a school in Bekaa Valley in Lebanon near the Syrian border for Syrian refugees. The school
was funded by the not-for-profit Malala Fund and it offers education to girls aged 14 to 18. At an international
conference, Yousafzai said to the world leaders, “If I were you, I would invest in books, not bullets.”
