2 Read the text on clothing in different cultures and answer the questions.

Clothes do not only cover our bodies but also show our identity and culture. So, each culture has their
symbolic clothing items and they also show social status, traditions and unity.

China
The Zhongshan Suit is a
Chinese traditional style for
men. It is named after Sun
Zhongshan. It is also known as
Mao Suit in the West. Chinese
leaders like to wear this suit
especially on special occasions.
It is made of polyester. This
two-piece suit includes baggy
pants and a tunic-style jacket
with four pockets. It is mostly in
gray, olive green or navy blue.

Scotland
The Kilt is a knee-length skirt but
it was an untailored 5 meter-
long piece of cloth worn around
the waist. It was first worn by
men and boys in the Scottish
highlands in the 16th century.
Today, it is worn on weddings or
at Highland games and sports
events. It is made of tartan – a
woolen cloth with horizontal
and vertical stripes in different
colors, on a colored background.
