MODERN HEROES and HEROINES ACTIVITY SHEETS

• Students will be able to talk about their personal hero (who he/she is and why he/she is their hero/heroine).
COMPETENCES • Students will be able to write a paragraph imagining themselves as a hero/heroine.

4 Read the sentences below. Tick the ones you agree on and share your opinions with the class.

F A hero or heroine has supernatural abilities. F You have to be old to be a hero or heroine.
F A hero or heroine is someone you admire. F There were more heroes or heroines in the past than now.
F A hero or heroine can be from any country. F A hero or heroine makes the world a better place.
F A hero or heroine is always famous. F Sporting heroes or heroines don’t count as proper heroes.
F Heroes or heroines are always clever. F A hero or heroine is strong and well-built.

Considering the sentences above, tell your friends who your hero or heroine is. Give reasons as

My hero is Ramil Guliyev. He is an Azerbaijani
born Turkish sprinter. He is my hero because
he became World Champion and won the
gold medal in the men’s 200-meter race in
2017. He is ambitious and hard-working. He

can run fast and he wants to run even faster.
