          WRITING

          Imagine that your social media account has been hacked and you cannot log in. Write a formal e-mail to the social media
          provider to report the unauthorised access and get your social media account back. Pay attention to the tips below before
          writing in your notebooks.

          TIPS FOR WRITING A FORMAL E-MAIL

             Send your e-mail from a professional e-mail address.
            
             Write the address of the recipient.
            
             Write your reason for your e-mail in the subject box.
            
             Use a formal tone throughout your e-mail.
            
             Start your e-mail with Dear Sir / Madam.
            
             Introduce yourself in your first sentence.
            
             Conclude your first paragraph by stating your reason for writing.
            
             State clearly what you want the authority to do in your next paragraph.
            
             Do not use contradictions such as “I’m”, “you’re”.
            
             Do not use smileys and abbreviations.
            
             Finish your e-mail by thanking the recipient for the time they took to read it.
            
             Use a formal closing such as regards, sincerely, yours faithfully / respectfully, etc.
            
             Finally, sign your name, providing professional contact information.
