Early in the 20th century, blues musicians in the
Southern US developed their own musical genre.
The melodies were originally performed by
people who lived in rural areas and were based on
their experiences or lives. The kind of music
that was created by this community was entirely
original. Early blues performers took tunes
from one another and didn’t care whose song it
was. Actually, later in time, it served as the
foundation for rock ‘n’ roll, which provides the
inspiration for the majority of music played today.
